Schoolboy Mike Perham, 16, has arrived in Las Palmas, Gran Canaria, according to his locator chart. He is hoping to nail the autopilot problems which have beset him since he left Falmouth nearly two weeks ago.

He has already made one earlier stopover in Cascais, Portugal where two wires were found to be loose.

He is still hoping to become the youngest, solo, circumanavigator although it seems increasingly unlikely that he will be able to claim the title for making the passage non-stop.
