The 91,000-strong population of Jersey could one day commute to work in France by car if a new plan to build a bridge across the 16 miles of sea goes ahead.
The nine mile by five mile island suffers from far higher house prices than the nearest mainland, but the £1 billion plan could change all that.
Jesrey could also make £40 million a year from bridge tolls. The plan includes a fuel pipeline and windfarm.
