Francis Joyon is storming up the South Atlantic 40 days out from Brest with under 6,000 miles to go to complete his solo, non-stop circumnavigation.
His 97ft trimaran IDEC is over 3,000 miles ahead of Ellen MacArthur's position when she was 40 days out in her 75ft trimaran B&Q in which she made her record 71 day circumnavigation.
Clearly an extra 22ft LOA makes a big difference!
