The 10th YM sponsored Rally Portugal departed from Plymouth on Sunday, with 23 yachts entering in the run to the sun

The Yachting Monthly sponsored Rally Portugal got underway on Sunday morning with 23 yachts assembling in Plymouth for the Biscay crossing. A party was held at The Dome on Plymouth Hoe on the Saturday night to mark this, the 10th anniversary of the Rally, with many past crews attending plus the Lord Mayor of Plymouth. Despite a glorious start, the yachts were soon diverted to Falmouth because of a low pressure heading towards the south-west approaches. This front should pass rapidly though leaving them with more favorable conditions to cross in company to Bayona, Spain. See www.worldcruising.com for more details
