After five days of sailing in the Olympics the conditions in Qingdao have lived up to their light-wind reputation. Today the race-course saw only 5 knots of breeze, with most classes forced to drop their second race.

How is Team GBR doing in the light stuff? The Finn and Yngling classes started on Saturday and have sailed half of their races so far. In the Yngling, the British team are currently in first place, the crew of Sarah Ayton, Sarah Webb and Pippa Wilson enjoying a lead of five points over the second placed Dutch boat. Ben Ainslie extended his lead in the Finn class today with a win in a tricky light airs race.

The 49er class started racing on Sunday and the British team of Rhodes and Morrison had a good first day, ending up in 1st place. However, they were less successful yesterday and were over the line in the first race today, which has pushed them back to 8th place overall.

After 2 days racing, Paul Goodison is 7th in the Laser fleet, while in the Laser Radial, Penny Clark is lying in 5th place. In the 470s, Nick Rogers and Joe Glanfield ended their day in 3rd place while after a frustrating day their female counterparts ended up 11th overall.

The Star and Tornado classes have their first race on Saturday. Britons Iain Percy and Andrew Simpson are tipped for a good result in the Star Class.
