28 teams from across the marine trade descended on the Solent yesterday for the Marine Industry Regatta.
Held in Sunsail's fleet of Sun Fast 37's, this year's event was won by Bruntons Propellers, who improved significantly on last year's fourth place to take the number one spot. Second place went to Hyde Sails, with the British Marine Federation team in 3rd and Thornham Marina in 4th.
The long motor out of Portsmouth Harbour to the startline saw flat calm and a cold, fine drizzle, but the sun burned this off by the first start leaving behind ten knots of wind and blazing sunshine. The breeze built throughout the day, and by the third and final race was strong enough to cause some impressive spinnaker wraps.
