Yacht missing between Hawaii and British Columbia

Sailors Chris Malchow (30) and Courtenay Steele (25) have been reported missing whilst on passage from Hawaii to Canada. The couple left Hilo, Hawaii, on the 8th September in their nine meter wooden ketch Takoroa II, heading for Victoria BC Canada. They are now reported as missing persons lost at sea as it has been over three months since their departure from Hilo. Chris and Courtenay left New Zealand in June cruising to Tahiti and then on to Hawaii. Friend, Neal Trowbridge, has appealed for help in locating the missing couple.

Yachting Monthly's Blue Water Letter correspondent Annie Hill wrote about Chris and Courtenay in her letter in the September 2007 edition of Yachting Monthly. The missing couple have a website - www.island-bound.ca

Neal would like to hear from anyone who has seen or heard anything about Chris and Courtenay on dandnpolo@shaw.ca. This would be gratefully appreciated by both their families and friends. 'The local TV stations and newspapers have run numerous articles/reports but to no avail so far,' said Neal, from Victoria, BC Canada.
